Demographic trends

Blog post | Management test Demographic trends

Demographic trends have many faces and make new demands on organizations and people:

  • Ageing that causes the need for a higher production with fewer people;
  • High rate of change through that forces people and organizations to adapt faster and more often;
  • Working longer causing employees to work at older ages;
  • New generations of employees who think and learn different;
  • Cooperation in teams across the boundaries of the organization;
  • Personal responsibility of employees to develop themselves continuously;
  • Increased appeal to HR departments and HR professionals to support the business in a faster and better recruitment, development and use of human resources.

Implications for society and organizations

Except for impact on workers, demographic trends also have significant financial impact on society and organizations. The number of workers that have to pay for the state pension benefits of a growing population of elderly, will decrease for another 20 to 30 years. Our retirement system is not designed for this situation and will have a major impact on businesses and our economy. Chances are even that many companies will not survive these social changes.

Impact on your organization

That demographic developments entail huge costs, is now widely accepted. But do you know how high these costs will be for your organization? And even more importantly, what you can do to control it?

To get the answers to these questions you need to analyze the impact of changes in the following parameters for your organization:

  • Retirement age
  • Absenteeism
  • Productivity
  • Wage development
  • Replacement of employees
  • Outflow of employees

Depending on the corporate structure and the value of the parameters, the additional costs of demographic change amounts between 100,000 and 350,000 euros per employee. With a specially developed demographics scan we can calculate what additional costs demographics will bring to your organization. So you can take control over these costs in a timely and effective manner.

AnyLife demographics scan

The starting point of the AnyLife demographics is the workforce and the structure of your organization. The parameters used in the scan are always based on figures from your organization and are recorded at the start of the analysis. With special analysis software we then create a simulation of the cost development in the short, medium and long term.

On the basis of the calculations we show you what you could do to improve the future situation and to control costs. Think of measures in the area of health management, talent management and/or capital accrual for flexible retirement.
